@mallleakoat Oh good! I'm so glad it worked for you. I'll have to try a calamansi one day. Thanks for the feedback : )

@lilikoilooks hi ms Toi! Calamansi is like a small version of lime and i think its more acidic than lemon.. I made a sugaring wax using calamansi juice and it works well. Thank you miss toi! Because of your tuitorial video i made it possible without mistakes, even though i did not used a candy thermometer (which is hard to find in any store here lol!). Thank you again! =)

@Valic1983 I'm glad that you and your beard are recovering : ) You definitely want to use a type of cotton fabric that's heavy duty. If you can't get your hands on any muslin cloth, you can cut up an old pair of jeans to make strips out of. Denim won't fray too easily. Good luck with your next go at it.

I'm also thinking that method 2 might not be ideal for my coarse hair type. Unfortunately, Amazon.com reviews seem to state that the cloth strips available aren't of particularly great quality; and may not survive a treatment, much less being washed.
What sort of cloth do you suppose would be ideal? I thought I might try using some old T-shirts; but I'm concerned that the elastic properties of knit fabric might not be ideal, and that the fine cotton blend wouldn't last over multiple uses.
i tried this and it made my skin really glowy dont know if anyone else had noticed this with themselves. thankssss lilikoilooks

Hi,
I used lemon juice for my first lot of wax and it worked fine, I ran out of lemon and used vinegar instead.
It went to the soft ball stage in the water fine, but then I took it off the stove to cool it went all crystally. I take it that the vinegar is not as acidic as the lemon, so should I leave out the water altogether and just use vinegar? : )

@robonaught Hmm. I've never made it without water, so I can't say for sure how it would effect the consisitency. You're probably right about the vinegar not being as acidic as the lemon juice. You can try it without water. But it will probably lessen the cooking time, so watch it closely. You should to cook it over lower heat to prevent it from burning. Since I'm not sure, testing it out is the only way to know if water is necessary for the chemical effect.Let me know how it works out : )
