Big Rock Ad/Commercial "Crazy Talk" - 2009 Eddies Entry

Here is another one of my failed attempts at trying to get a commercial into Big Rock Brewery's annual Eddie Awards. I've made probably a half-dozen one-minute spots for Big Rock Beer since 1998, but I guess I really have no clue how to make one that will be noticed favorably by the judges.

What makes this ad extra special for me and my family is that this was shot on St. Patrick's Day March 17, 2009, and my brother-in-law, Kit Ooraikul (middle actor), was soon after diagnosed on March 31st with Guillain Barre Syndrome (http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/gbs/gbs.htm), a neurological/auto-immune disorder which has essentially paralyzed him to the point of needing a respirator to breathe. He has been in an intensive care unit since, and his spouse, Tanya, and two daughters, Mayson (nearly three years old) and Eden (seven-plus months old) have been by his side daily as they await patiently for his recovery (anticipated to be a year or more).

Kit is, by nature, a fireball, usually burning it up with a variety of sports and activities like volleyball, cycling, golf, camping, and playing with his family and friends. We all miss the light that he so readily emits when he is around us, and this short video is just a reminder of what he is to us: a funny, talented, strong, and bright young man who has, by some wicked fate, been suppressed by this syndrome, but thankfully, not beaten by it.

Kit ,I think I can speak confidently on behalf of all who know you that we miss your unending energy, and hope with God Speed that you recover soon.
