The Turk - chess playing automaton robot model

Here is a scale model of the famous chess playing automaton Turk. The original was created by Wolfgang Von Kempelen in the 18th century. The model is scratch built except for the figure which is a 1/6 scale doll redone to resemble the Turk.

The model includes a mini chess board, a Turkish pipe, an arm cushion, and flickering candles. The inside of the cabinet contains the machinery that was intended to give the impression of a true automaton. In fact, the Turk was manipulated by a skilled chess player secretly hidden inside the cabinet.

Thanks, the board is not fixed in place and can be moved. The chess pieces can also be moved.
