  • I recently bought a quad and am planning to use the no toil oil and cleaner for the air filter but my question is: can you leave an oiled filter in the air box for some time say about a couple weeks or do you leave it unoiled until you want to ride and then oil it?

    good job on the vids

  • @evorider678

I prefer to oil the filter a day or two before riding but you would be fine oiling it two weeks before riding. With the red No Toil you need to oil the filter and hang it up at least a couple hours before installing it so the alcohol has time to dry. If you have the new green No Toil it is water based and will need 6 to 8 hours for the water to dry. Both are great filter oils and since I've been using the new green No Toil I actually like it better.

  • What do you recommend for cleaning an air filter? I heard a degrease solvent is the best method...

  • @shalukuttan What cleaner to use really depends on what filter oil you are using. No Toil filter oil cleans up really easy with their brand of cleaner or Oxyclean also works well. Some filter oils require solvents. I would check with the manufacturer of the particular filter oil you are using and see what they recommend. Sorry I can't be more specific.

  • do i have to oil the filter every time? what happens if i dont oil the filter?

  • @makakosify

The filter should be oiled with foam air filter oil after it has been cleaned. On a foam air filter it's the oil that traps the fine dust and dirt particles. An un-oiled foam air filter will allow dust and dirt through which can cause major engine damage.

  • hey dude, i just got my bike and all the maintenance stuff, but i have the spray oil for the filter, would it be the same process or would i have to do anything differently and what would you say is better?

  • Lmao that's funny because that's wat I did my first time it got torn up in a million little pieces

Not the best way to clean it

  • just use a sock, if it gets dirty put it in the washer

  • bel-ray f-filter oil is good, it leaves a very nice blue colour on filter and doesn't cause problems even if you use a bit too much, 1-2 dl can be used

  • I have recently started teachin my friend about motocross mechanics and i gave him a new air filter because i have a little shop and i gave him this new air filter he put it on and went to a track came back and he was complaining of his bike not running properly so i said did you oil the air filter and he said no so i got his bike pulled the subframe off and there was so much dirt in the carb pull the carb off and cleaned every jet now its spot on. ALL WAYS OIL them and only use foam filter oil.

  • Hey great video, was wondering if you could do one for the 09 wr250f as the filter Is very different than these. Cheers in advance.

  • how much does a new air filter cost?

  • can i use 10-40 motor oil when oiling the air filter?
