Some bodhran drums are tunable while others are not, but even the non-tunable bodhrans can be tightened using a damp cloth. Adjust the tuner pegs on the inside of a tunable bodhran drum with help from the member of an Irish band in this free video on traditional Irish instruments.

very helpful, and you learn alot about irish culture through irish music.
I myself am a tejano drummer from San Antonio, and have always enjoyed cultural music. Looking to buy a bodhran, now i know how to tune it.

Aimee, nicely done. A couple of things:
What type of camera did you use to shoot this?
What brand of Bodhran are you using?
I live in Mpls. and with the cold dry winters I would prefer the tunable style.
Your playing has a nice feel and pocket!

i just recently got a non tunable bodhran that was incredibly loose. how do you tighten the skin in any significant way?
smackythefirst 2 years ago
the tunable one is the same as any drum that's in a drumset

nice one Amy!
New drum? Is the skin dark, or is that just from the angle filming it?
