@MyBonnie128 Thanks for the thoughtful comment! We wish you and your dog the best of luck in obedience as well. :) Just a thought, to discourage your dog from breaking her stays, you can try putting her in a sit-stay and walking away for just a few feet, then returning immediately and rewarding her with a yummy treat. Repeat this exercise, each time walking just a bit farther away, but always returning to reward her before she has a chance to break her stay. =)

@DoggRazor I'm so sorry for the delayed resonse, I just saw this now! I train with positive reinforcement techniques (yummy treats especially!), although I will say "uh-uh" once in a while if he repeatedly does something the wrong way. But I find that he follows his nose for treats, so it's pretty easy to get him into the "correct" position. I find that if I did anything harsher, Duke would probably lose interest and shut down, and then neither of us would be having any fun. :)

I just watched you and your dog do such an awesome and I almost cried when I saw how excited you got at the end! Congrats on your perfect score and first place! My dog is going to start his first show in Rally Novice in 2 weeks. Once again Congrats on your perfect score. You have a really gorgeous dog! :-)

@IzzyBooNZ1 Hi Izzy, thanks for watching! I still get butterflies in my stomach, but my best tip to minimize nervousness is to remember why you and your dog are there: to have fun together as a team. I find that keeping that goal in mind helps calm my nerves, because it takes the focus off of "winning" and moves it to you and your dog as a team. Not only does it help with nerves, but we've found that we actually perform better with that mentality! Good luck to you and your dog!

I have the same question as DoggRazor. When you train, do you use corrections or positive reinforcement or both?

@MissMadz007 Hi MissMadz007, I'm so sorry for the delayed resonse! I train both rally and agility with positive reinforcement techniques (yummy treats especially!), although I will say "uh-uh" once in a while if he repeatedly does something the wrong way. But I find that he follows his nose for treats, so it's pretty easy to get him into the "correct" position. The important thing is to have fun (both of you!) Good luck!
