Is this from the Merenptah stele? The existance of the kingdom of Israel is not controversial in archaeology. The controversy usually arises from the debate over whether or not their was actually an Exodus, or if the Israelites were just a native Canaanite tribe.
The hieroglyphs you have up there in black around 2:00 read "Izrear". There wasn't an L sound in Middle Egyptian, so Israel is a pretty good translation.
True. A petty Hebrew King or Chieftain by the name of Labaya (The Lion), living near Megiddo, was attacking the petty King of the city, a vassal of Egypt who complained that he couldn´t cope with this "Hapiru" = Hebrew, to his protector, the Pharaoah who came, fought against Labaya. won some, lost some but in the hand captured and executed him. The term Israel existed already at that time, doubtlessly referring to Jacob/Israel, the Patriarch. Note: Labaya = Loewe, strange enough!
something i have been wondering about with egypt is why would they want to hide the fact the hebrew israelites were there as they were cousins of the hebrews. egypt was the son of ham, it was only canaan that was cursed. egypt had been a place of refuge during times of famins many time for their cousins, Ismael & Soloman married egyptians. I believe the bible shows egypt knew the god of noah, the same god of the hebrews up until the king that did not know joseph (hyskos)
