pirogue is a canoe and poling means polarity.

Its French. Louisiana was a french colonie

@TheSwampRock A pirogue is a canoe-like flat bottomed boat. "Poling" is one of the methods of propulsion....a pole is used to push the pirogue through the shallow waters of the swamp.

@nicholasbhicks A pirogue is a flat-bottomed boat or canoe. "Poling" means using a long pole to propel and steer the boat (the water is very shallow, and the pole sticks in the bottom of the bayou, and the boat-driver pushes the boat along with the pole. Polarity has not a damn thing to do with it..... Hope this helps!
