Changing wheels in a danjiri float at Kishiwada Matsuri Festival.

A single danjiri float weighs 4-5 tonnes and runs over 70 km during the two-day Kishiwada Danjiri Festival. Its wheels are fixed so changing the direction is done by dragging the cart sideways. As a result, wheels made from wood, need to be replaced.

Usually this is done during a rest in remote places, but during 2010 festival, danjiri belonging to Honmachi neighborhood was pulled off the main road during the parade. Wheel change was done in a real F1-manner to quickly return to the road.
