Farida Nekzad is editor-in-chief of Pajhwok News Agency, Afghanistan's only independent news agency. A champion of press freedom and women's rights in her country, she was recently honored with the 2007 International Press Freedom Award by Canadian Journalists for Free Expression in Toronto, Canada.

Why don't they nominate the real brave women in Afghanistan and award them? Those who are true and are hard working get killed, nobody then knows about their life and death. I do not mean we lack talent but I mean how corrupt our society is that they nominate and award this kind of people. They are not even original people and change themselves right upon arriving to western countries. what a shame!!
