  • Great performance from 2003. The video should be titled "I'll Never Smile Again". Sarah was covering Ruth Lowe for the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala that week. This performance was from the CBC TV show Play.

  • Thank you for information

  • I think she's singing it exactly right. She's bending the notes. Geez, if you don't like it don't listen.

  • 22...201 people are convinced to not smile, sad decision!!!

  • Love it - the girl can freakin sing!

  • She's amazing.

  • the harmonies in this song are way more complex than what most people are used to hearing in pop music. she is singing notes that don't necessarily "belong" 100% to the chords she's playing. if anything this makes a singer more talented, not - and i detest this word! - pitchy...

  • what a wonderful song

  • If you watch her singing technique carefully you will notice she never strains from the throat, she always raises her 'self' into the note. I don't know all the things she's doing, but everytime I watch her sing I feel as though I'm watching correct vocal technique, not some hack singing into their shoes. It takes knowledge to sing the way she does, never mind the great material she writes. A lost art...occasionally surfaces here and there.

  • Wrong. Her pitch is not off. This is a different style of singing than you are used to & this song must be a standard by the sounds of it hey? They used the semi-tone device a lot more in the melody intervals. People from that era would not 'hear' heavy metal, it would sound 'wrong' & you have the identical problem. Call it 'cognitive dissonance' if you like, but her vocal technique is 'right on' pitch. You are unable to appreciate her finer qualities but the album Baroness is a work of art.

  • i think it's fascinating how everyone is a damn expert... even tho they have never even heard of sarah slean before lol i mean, really? "trouble with the melody"?!? Sarah Slean's singing style is very bending and dramatic at times. Listen to at least one other song of her's before commenting ever.
