@StokersMate Even more amusing: In the original novel, Tarzan teaches himself to read and write (but not speak) English from the books in his parents' cabin, and is later taught French by a Frenchman who speaks poor English, so uses Tarzan's written English as a starting point. Thus, Tarzan learns that A-P-E is pronounced "sange," M-A-N is pronounced "homme" and W-A-T-E-R is pronounced "eau." He later learns to speak English, and read French.
