Burning Man 2007 on CBS, 9-30-07

'Burning Man 2007 on CBS morning news, which aired at 6:30 am (on Las Vegas Channel 8), 9-30-07.

Some great stuff in this one, aerial views from skydivers, interviews with Larry Harvey (Burning Man's primary founder), Michael Ross (creator of Big Rig Jig), and Leo Nash (Burning Man photographer of 13 years).

An aside, I barely got this video up! When I went to render the piece, the tv/ vcr combo fell and broke the vcr portion and chewed up the video tape when I tried to play it. After a hasty splicing and scotch tape type fix (yeah on a video tape, when has that ever worked?), the video would play in another vcr however the image would freeze now and then with only the sound still playing. I just barely managed to get the full thing up after a few tries. (It felt desperate, it felt important, I didn't think anyone else on the continent, or abroad, would wake up at 6 am to record 5 minutes of the news for the sake of documenting history.)

Moral of the story: Once you've been baptized by that fire (As I had for the fourth time this year at burning man), it WILL sort out those dreams of truth. It stays in your soul, lit by a pilot light. Things I didn't even know were getting in the way (of what? that part doesn't matter, one doesn't have to know) sort of whisper to you saying...'yeah, be brave with this now, these are old fears' 'Incinerate'. I didn't even know I'd grown complacent. That video recording deck was just an obstacle apparently. And frankly, I've always been intimidated by it's creative potential (in my hands at least). Sucks it was my dad's though and he had to go buy a new one, damn. - carpenns'

It does, I just got back from the place and too many 'jaded old timey burners' as well as first time burners who are all too willing to recite 'the rules of burning to you' if say for instance, 'you try to buy drugs with money'...they go ''no no no...you can only barter' as if to cock block everything you stand for...too many hiprocrites.
