The National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation have partnered with State Arts Agencies to support Poetry Out Loud, which encourages the nation's youth to learn about great poetry through memorization and performance. Poetry Out Loud helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about their literary heritage. The competition is run as a "poetry bee" starting in classrooms, then by school, region, state then ending with the state winners competing for a $20,000 scholarship in the National Final in Washington DC. This is a clip of the regional winners in Kansas competing for a chance to go on to the national final in DC.
