@ram6speed im not sure either but i read on mads electronic sight that this option is for when you want to produce NO SMOKE,, and i kinda took that as an indirect "will pass emissions" kinda frase haha... still dont have emissions here in new mexico tho! hehe

Yes it alternates the 3 fired cyl so that it evenly heats the block

because 3 cyl creates a much greater load on the engine causing it to warm up faster

I dont get why cummins has both 3 cyl and 6 cyl high idle on their trucks. whats the diff between them and is one optional and the other standard? plz reply.

It's not a SMARTY feature. Cummins developed this software. Dodge doesn't enable it form the factory. The SMARTY does (-:
