(Carlo's) Deportation Blues

Carlos has been deported after 12 years working for a farmer down the road
Marched through the dark gate, south to Tijuana Mexico
Left behind are his wife and two children don't you know?

What did Carlos do?
Other than raise your food
Worked for less than any American would do
Keeping prices low for you
Carlos sprayed orchards up and down long narrow rows
Last few years working he's had chronic bleeding from his nose
Wouldn't see no doctor was too scared of deportation to go

Finally Rosa his wife
Called 911 to save his life
After he fell to the floor one night
Now Rosa's left behind to raise their children alone
Working at the laundry cleaning rich peoples clothes
Working to keep their US born children in the school where their enrolled
Rosa is putting up a mighty fight
Living everyday in strife
Working for her children's better life
The farm can't find a replacement for Carlo since his deportation
Can't find affordable workers since the crackdown on illegal immigration
Farmer is considering selling his land to a housing development corporation
The farmer needs his right-hand man
Or he'll sell his fifth generation (farm) land
He misses Carlos, his good friend
Carlos has been deported after 12 year working for a farmer down the road
Marched through the dark gate, south to Tijuana Mexico
Left behind are his wife and two children don't you know?
What would Jesus do?
I hope he wouldn't deport us too
Do unto other as you'd have them do to you...
Love this <3
