@mrcardio9r Don't buy the 3rd generation Miata. Mazda will unveil the 4th generation next year (probably summer of 2012, released late fall as a 2013 model). According to the head of the Miata project, the new car will lose 600lbs, get a more rigid SkyActiv chassis and a more efficient SkyActiv Inline-4 engine.
If you are planning on buying a new Miata (which it sounds like you are), it is definitely worth waiting the extra few months for the new 4th gen.

I'm buying a 11-12' MX-5 6MT hard-top next year (sept/oct). It's simply the best car to drive south of 45-50K. The 370z for example is much quicker but not nearly as fun to drive as the MX-5. The S2K is a great car but it's not the best daily driver / more of a weekend car. The MX-5 strikes just the right balance of power and comfort to be a great fun daily driver. The last thing it needs is more power because if you've ever driven one you'd know it's plenty quick without being so fast you can'

Miata's a great sports carespecially for the price. As far a chick cars go the VW cabrio is the gayest chick car ever made except maybe the beetle converible.
