in the 2nd half of the 60s when i was around 13 years old in phnom penh my dad said that ros serey sothea aint have a high voice (srek min barn, kalna srek neung bek somleng) & that mao sareth had a higher voice. that's true. however sothea's voice is beautiful in the not-so-high level. her singin' technique & art were also excellent.

People listen to hear her voice because it is clear, natural, and she can hit high notes where it is needed. Just because you can hit the highest notes does not make you a great singer. Maria Carrey can hit those high notes, but her voice is scratchy. Which voices would you listen to all day? Can anyone listen to someone or instrument on a high note for long? most people prefer the middle notes.
