APATHY

SIMPLY a few meanings and examples. I know this topic is very broad and deals with different kinds of situations. I was merely focusing on moments where MATERIALISM causes us to be Apathetic.

You forgot some important points. Apathy allows you to never feel pain. Apathy allows you to read the intentions of others as well as what they truly mean when they say things. I prefer to watch the world and observe. Apathy allows you to not care about meaningless relationships that will just cause pain.

I think this video is a litle bit superficial. Basically it says that apathy comes from our desire of money, and futile consumistic things or hate or wars. Well I often am apathic but I don't really care about money or consumism and I am also pretty spiritual. There must be other reasons.

I love this video cause ....I am ! Thats so hard to wake up any morning with these fellings .... I try to believed in me , each day of my life .... But its to hard ... I feel empty ...lonely , my heart blood ... But nobodies can help me ... I try to put my anger , my pain on sculputes ... That works sometimes.... But just .... Sometimes ......... Its hard to live ....and believed .................... The world is so complicated .... I dont feel the humanity ...where ever i look ....

@Jizyon Yeah I felt the same way. I like to write and draw during my spare time and I decided to start a career in art about a year ago. Its nice to have an outlet for negativity and I think art is perfect whether its drawing, sculpting, dancing, playing instruments, singing etc. Your art is a beautiful translation of your pain without having to speak it. Try to smile more, not because you're happy but because you want to be happy.

@freedominfonetwork There's no more apathy now then there was before. There are still right wing loons screaming on the right (Tea Party) and socialist left wing nuts screaming on the left (Occupy Wallstreet). There are still goosestepping radicals everywhere. Fear them, not the apathetic. They are the ones that will put a gun to your head if you're not the right race,party,religion, or sexual orientation.

I think apathy comes from a background of not being able(or thinking)you are unable to change things for the better. You may have suffered or have decided on becoming socially uninteractive. With these thoughts, conception and imagination wither. When they wither its a spiral into numbness. To regain feeling one has to believe and align themselves with something that they forgot mattered. They have to delve into the place that once was alive and find a shred of what it was and harness it.

i feel that this video is quite one sided... apathy is such a deep and multifactorial issue, simply saying that it is bad with regard to the trivial examples mentioned doesn't do the concept any justice... apathy can be goood :)

i agree with you... also, maybe in some ways apathetic individuals could be too reflective... what i mean by this is that one may evaluate everything from as many perspectives as possible and eventually reach an equilibrium where no single emotional point of view is given priority, hence apathy develops...

Non-reflective? Strongly disagree, maybe an apathetic individual could be like that but I wouldn't say it's because of their apathy.
