he does a lot of covers. they tend to be quirky and wierd sometimes," isnt she lovely", "beat it ".i dont think he'll ever cover nirvana/ radio head. what he does with french music is (as here)is fantastique!beyond genres, just beautiful music. a big part of him is French , many of the songs he interprets on his blue note albums are too. possibly why he is not as well known as mehldau, who has absorbed more (U.S) pop than jacky t, who i.e. only recently learnt & covered "you've got a friend"

@TheSangerin i only know him because a drummer gave me a cd of his 7 years ago or so. he doesn't have the huge following(&promotional machine) brad mehldau does. a little too inaccessible at times? i heard his solo show in köln, and he played nothing like this. an off day maybe, but it seemed like he was just riffing, fast and clean, for sure, but not creating the kind of musical feeling he does here.but he matches brad in all ways, technique, feel, versatility, feel, compositions, energy ...

...it doesn't take balls to mess with something by Poulenc (I sang, myself, a couple of things)...in fact, it takes balls to Poulenc to write something people will mess with... ...yes, it turned out nicely :-)))

Wieso gibt es keine am letztesten Note ? Wieso verstehen viele Leute nicht ,dass der Ende der Musik bis letzte Atmen vertig ist ?

Brilliant.
Kyteman(a dutch artist) is related to him. When Kyteman was 3years his uncle Jacky took him to lots of places where he learned to get a feeling for Jazz. Now at the age of 22 he's (i think) one of the most talented artist our small country got.
"Sorry" is imo his best.
So hope you peeps enjoy it as much as i did.
That is... one of the most gorgeous things I have ever heard in my life.... Wow....

I've had the odd private lesson from Jacky - super nice guy, encouraging, very down to earth, unassuming, humble, yet a great knowledgeable player who is fantastically inspiring in his unique approach to playing - from beautiful sensitive ballads to absolute killer 'up' tunes, not to mention his own compositions!!!
