Hey Youtube,
Tonight I am showcasing a new engine I whipped up; a 6 bank by 2 heads radial engine. I'm timing the engine with expression 2 and GPS coordinates, which I have found to be the most reliable and least CPU-driven method for grabbing angles off of a rotating body.

The engine is hydraulic-actuated, meaning that, instead of actual physical pistons, I am emulating their movement with a wire hydraulic.

The engine was loosely inspired by GGigabyteM's R2800 (the video of which seems to have been corrupted), which has remained my favorite engine of his.

In the video, I set host_framerate to 30 (it's typically 100-120 for me, I can't quite remember), which explains the faster rotation of the propeller/flywheel.

Massive credits to GGigabiteM for his amazingly versatile model pack, and to D-MAN-One for originally showing me the timing method. I appreciate the help!

Thanks for watching, and if you have any questions, please comment or send me a message; I always answer them! Any suggestions/constructive criticism are also considered (and wanted!), so please tell em what I could have done better!

  • Hey Mr.White, You know when the plane was increasing the speed went up 1+ every second. How can I do that? Like a wheel of a car, when you push down the pedal it goes 1...2...3...4...5mph ect. How can I make it so the speed accelerates unlike thrusters where you press the button and it goes 0 - 100 instantly.

  • @shadowhunter388 In this case I'm using an Advanced Input to control throttle.

  • Could you share the propeller e2 or maybe upload to gmod as a dupe? I love it :D It's awesome Great job :D

  • @shadowhunter388 Uhm, I don't typically keep duplications of engines like these. If I had it at one point, it would be long gone now as my Adv Duplicator folder was wiped when I switched over to TB's Duplicator. What exactly do you mean by "propeller e2"?

  • @mwhite112393 I meant the E2 chip you used for the timing of the propeller, idk but thanks anyways, I just downloaded this pack but I have no clue how to make a engine, Do you know the tools needed? I got the Wing and fin tool. :)

  • @shadowhunter388 To make an engine you'll of course need wire, but that's all you'll need to make a successful engine. There are tools like the Axis Center tool that can improve engine building immensely, though.

  • @mwhite112393 i wouldnt say that, ive built some pretty sturdy airframes and it always seemed to pull to the side its spinning, i havnt tried a dual prop design yet, maybe thatd neutralize the torque spin, but i know it works wonderfully for helicopters, but im not convinced yet for forward flight

  • @JacobStar9104 There shouldn't be a problem with that if you use the right tools. You'll need the fin and wing tools to give the plane lift, and the propeller tool to make the propeller produce forward thrust. If you have both of those aspects along with a well built airframe, the plane should have no trouble achieving flight.

  • I have a question. Is it real when you put a plane engine on a plane no hoverballs or thrusters and stuff like that, and it will fly? Or is that a fake on the videos

  • @JacobStar9104 Yeah, that's just YouTube's framerate playing with your eyes.
