Excel stores each date as a serial number. This allows you to perform calculations that use dates. E.g. "How many days past due is this invoice?" Or "How many days remain in this billing cycle?"

I make use of a very handy Keyboard Shortcut in this video to reveal the serial number of any date - Ctrl + ~ (tilde)

My pleasure - I am pleased that I was able to help you to understand how Excel calculates Dates. This can be quite confusing - giving you unexpected results.
