The Slickrock Jeep Trail is located about two hours south of South Lake Tahoe, just off the 4 HWY and near to Bear Valley in the Stanislaus National Forest. Starting up on west shore of the picturesque Lake Alpine, the Slickrock Trail parallels the cascading clear waters of Silver Creek and makes its way over huge slabs of granite, through impressive sloped granite walled canyons, down steep granite Moab style descents, across a cool stream, up over a challenging rocky climb and then finally coming to an end at the beautiful Utica Reservoir. And, while this trail is only 5.2 miles long and can be done in about 3 hours, you should be prepared for it to take the better part of a day to complete as there is just so much to see and do along the way. On our trip, we were fortunate enough to be treated to brilliant displays of wildflowers, equally colorful butterflies, several deer staring at us from the woods, a fast swiming water snake in the creek and of course, stunning views across the Stanislaus National Forest and Carson Iceberg Wilderness. But, having said all that, I think the absolute best part of this trail was being able to playing in the myriad of pools that Silver Creek has uniquely sculpted and carved out of the pink granite it flows over near the end of the trail. For this run, we hooked up with the JK-Forum.com NorCal Crew including Liz (DizzyLiz) and Sean in their Black Rubicon Unlimited sitting on an RE 3.5″ Super Flex Lift and 35″ BFG MTs, Matt (brknmach) and his dad with their Steel Blue Rubicon RE 4.5″ Long Arm Lift and 36″ Iroks, Chip (kidjeep) and his daughter with their Silver Sahara Unlimited sitting on a TeraFlex 2.5″ BB, 1″ BL and 35″ Toyo MTs, Stacy (R8R ROK) and his family with their Silver Sahara Unlimited sitting on a TeraFlex 2.5″ BB and 32″ BFG MTs, David (MBATF) and his mom with their Black Rubicon Unlimited sitting on a Clayton 3.5″ Lift and 37″ BFG KM2s, Zip (PeeJ_Zip) and his wife with their Black X sitting on a Rusty's 3.25″ Lift and 35″ Baja MTZs, Mark (rampage) and his kids with their Jeep Green Rubicon Unlimited sitting on a Full Traction 3″ Ultimate Lift and 35″ ProComp Xtreme MTs and of course, Cindy (WOLette) and I in our Stone White Rubicon Unlimited sitting on a TeraFlex 4″ Flex Arm Lift, 1″ More BL and 37″ Toyo MTs.

  • @Datorium yeah, we just have so many videos to work on - new ones - that it gets hard to come back and redo the old ones.

  • wayalife, friend from vegas here, I had this "disabled" problem happen to one of my videos and I found a fix.

  • Congratulations guys, despite the disabled audio .. what an interesting trail !!!

  • Although I still liked this video. It was different from the rest. Amore personal touch it seemed.

  • funny, i still have a built up tj sitting on a 6" long arm kit and 37's and i can assure you that my 4-door jk can out-wheel it or just about any other rig that i've ever owned. the longer wheelbase really isn't as much of a liability as you would think and in some cases, it's a huge advantage especially in places like moab. as far as skids go, yes, it does have everything except for oil pan protection. oh, and this trail is up in northern california.
