Are there any languages you just would not care to learn? I think Arabic is horrible and Dutch. Not sexy at all. The sexiest languages aside from the Latin ones are probably Hungarian and Greek. You should do them next :P

@Sambucca Have a search on my blog and you'll be surprised what you see! I wrote about Dutch in great detail while I was learning it last year, and wrote an article especially to encourage those learning Hungarian, when I learned it 2 years ago.

Arabic is on my list. I don't find it horrible at all. No language is horrible when you appreciate that it's just people chatting to one another.

tell me this, what do you use when you go to a country and start learning? do you use software or books or any other resources??? i speak italian but now im learning tagalog. mainly because my girlfriend is Filipino and i really want to go to the country for a while. for learning i use rosetta stone and the pimsleur approach.

@stefomate It seems you have the best resource in the world right under your nose before you got expensive software and audio and you don't realise it...

@georgianagina Please read the blog. This year I've taken on Tagalog, Turkish, American Sign Language and Quechua and in January I'm onto another non European language that I'll reveal after the new year. I made this video a year and a half ago. A lot has changed since ;)

@iambigga i know. i was just trying to surprise her. she speaks the language every day with her family but in general she is more used to speaking english now. we plan on going to the phillipines in the future for a nice holiday and i want to train with the doce paris so i hope to be a decent speaker by then

I'm from India and can currently speak 3 languages fluently-English,Marathi and Hindi.I also know some Italian and Spanish. Right now, I'm trying to learn Italian by reading text-books, learning new words daily and watching interviews and reading Italian e-papers. For Spanish, I'm using Pimsleur Spanish.For French, I learn from my grandfather (whenever I go home) and I have lots of e-books and audio lessons. Could you suggest some methods to improve my learning speed?

Ugh, but it just sounds so aggressive and throaty, like they're fighting with each other. I don't like it. Anyway, I'm teaching myself Japanese at the moment and might try Spanish after I get a bit better at it. Phonetically they are very similar so it should be an easy transition.

@irishpolyglot i know but i want to learn on my own without her. and then when i feel comfortable enough i will practice with her. as for the audio and software i torrented it all so no money was involved ;) lol
