Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin on 30 Rock. When you're a graduate student, you feel pretty disconnected from the world. So, it's always nice to find out that someone knows you exist!

  • @JohnAdamsShoeShiner: I agree, it feels like an inside joke, the kind of joke former grad students would make about themselves. Works especially because grad students often have poor self-esteem (because of the intense competition and lack of affirmation in typical grad programs).

  • what is a graduate student? Someone who just left college?

  • @angel2901 A graduate student is someone who has an undergraduate degree like a B.A. or a B.Sc. and is pursuing more advanced studies like an M.A., an M.Sc., or a Ph.D.

  • @daedalus71 You mean there is other people out there in the world? I can see things moving from my lab window, but I try not to think about what's out there.

  • @Kex2p You have a LAB WINDOW?!?

  • @daedalus71 Nope, not an inside joke. Grad students really are the worst. They're smug and insufferable, yet utterly useless in any practical sense and entirely lacking self-awareness.

  • I love 2 hear about Tracy's and Jenna's weird and erratic histories in the show! :D

  • @jackfordtrousers that barely makes you a graduate student.

  • Jack did an MBA!

  • I am a graduate student, and I agree.

  • @daedalus71 @angel2901 I have always thought that the name "Graduate Student" is ambiguous, in other countries is called "Postgraduate Student", which is better in my opinion.

  • your, would of, all the sudden, who's, loose, could care less, the use of 'whom' for a subject as opposed to an object when trying to sound smart...

Have I listed all the typical grammatical mistakes?

  • Hell I don't know about your country but if I want a decent job in my field (molecular genetics) I need a Ph.d...it's not really an option...

  • I thought the same thing, if I know what university is when I hear an aussie refer to a college, they should have the same general reverse understanding?
