Clicker training #5 - sit on shoulder

Pumpkin flying to me and sitting on my shoulder

(11 month old cockatiel)

Tip:
get a treat and a clicker

STEP 1
get close to your bird

STEP 2
teast with the treat

STEP 3
if you bird flys to you and doesnt sit on yor shoudler right away still click the clicker and give him a treat

STEP 4
click clicker and give treat every time your bird gets closer till he finaly sits on the shoulder

***you can start from a small distance and then keep going back once you bird knows whats going on***

Thanks :) I'm working on that. Sometimes I wonder is there a place where you should not try to pet your teil, an area that would seem agressive?

Also sometimes she just sit n my hand with her crest up, like wachdoin? :) she is sooo cute

@Sethybeth well you should not try to ouch their tail and feet or try to touch them from behind ..it will scare them .. they also dont like being touched on the head but only if their not use to hands or if its someone new as for the crest sometimes they see something or hear something so it will be up, dont try to push it down .. it wont work lol umm yeh thats all i guess

My tiel wont bite or anything, he'll step up, but he will NOT stay on my hand. Guess what he does? He climbs up onto my shoulder, and will not "step up" off my shoulder, he just stay on my shoulder. What should I do?

@Sethybeth aww he likes ur company lol try to do the exercise fast … so he wont get a chance to go up .. trust me they get difficult sometimes

when i first got my cockatiel the first thing he did was fly strait onto my shoulder and to this day if i take him off he cries and flies right back on. it is by far his favorite place to be.

I have a hand tame conure and every time I put him on my shoulder he bites my ear or my neck ... He's not being aggressive and he's not off balance he just gets a lil too rough ...how do I make him stop?

Lol, when i push her crest down it stays down xD, but thanks. Pepper is a hand tame cockatiel, the breeder said. But thanks i will work on that :)
