The narrator's grammar always used to annoy me. Using "except for" when he clearly meant "but for", or even "were it not for".

Don't remember much about the subsequent cartoons, though.

As a kid in the late 80's and early 90's. I LOVED my Saturday morning watching my children tv programmes this this. Happy memories!
