I replied a while ago, but I guess it never got posted. Anyway, like I said, I've never heard ofカニみそ used in any other context, so the idea is foreign to me :D
Try doing a Google search (in English or Japanese) for カニみそ, and I bet that all the first hits will be talking about crab insides, rather than soup.

I'm kind of confused, haha. Was this supposed to be a pun or joke? I mean, while I'm sure crab + miso is good and possibly even common (I honestly have no idea), when I think of カニみそ I definitely think of crab innards (the gray-green bits). I've never heard anyone say カニみそ in reference to soup.
Sorry if that made no sense. As I said before, I'm a little confused.

while I can kinda see crab guts=crab soup, I am surprised that is your first association.
Kanimiso is pretty common in my town.
