hats off to ouijeanette and her brave curious son!!!

Any parent watching their son walk up to an unpredictable magma steaming vent has 100% right to be apprehensive about the kid shooting his video camera into the steam hole of the crater. That thing could blow at any moment sending up who knows what kind of toxic gases. Could be a monumental risk. They are doing that for your info. They deserve applause for bravery. Kudos to you for your valor. Mom - you are justified in your precautionary commands.

"GET OUT, GET OUT!"
"ALL RIGHT, ONE MORE VIEW, I WANT TO SEE IF I CAN RECORD DEEPER INTO THE HOLE."
"NO !"

Geez, Jake, scare that woman to death....

@poorlittlerichiegirl , exactly. All these people seemed to be ruled by fear. That "vent hole" showed no signs of a recent explosion or venting. There would've been clear evidence surrounding it. The woman was worthless. This is why the west is so messed up. They've feminized men & masculinated women.

Are you kidding me? He should have at least tried to shine a light or throw a glowstick down there. Wasn't the whole point to find vent holes? So why look for hours and then tell him not to film it? The woman wasted her time even going there if she's that easily scared.

If this is so dangerous someone better alert the local colleges because I know first hand and for a fact that (except for these very hot months) dozens if not hundreds of college students will be making their way to pisgah in vans and buses to hike this very same crater for their intro to geology courses! A course that would probably be a good idea for most of the people commenting on this video to take part in.

@sheattri ok now, books aren't your enemy, dear. It is not a steam vent or whatever your imagination tells you, it's an old lava tube. The most dangerous thing about it is probably the sharp edges on the basalt! Maybe she should wrap him in bubble wrap next time. that'd be so brave.
