1992 was the last year of the RAF Vulcan display and here's XH558's display at Chivenor. It's truly shocking quality, transferred from an old 8mm video tape on a dodgy old camera. About half way through there's a bit where the tape has obviously been chewed at one time, but the sounds pretty good and just after the chewed bit there's a lovely bit of howl as the Vulcan does a bomb bay pass. If you can sit through the jerky capture and the nauseating, non-tripod shots I hope you enjoy.

  • caught the new display at Fairford at the weekend - glorious to see her flying again and although the display isn't as enthusiastic as of old it was fantastic and the howl produced near the end in the spiral climb was magic!

  • takes me back to my childhood days sat on Saunton Sands beach as the Vulcan loaded with Concorde's jets came overhead at about 1000 ft... LOUD!

  • Have they got those throttles wide open or what? Shame about the picture quality but thats an awesome soundtrack.

    Thanks for sharing =]

  • commentator sounds like chris golds?

  • Toned down too much, so us the paying public see a half show, how sad.

  • I was there as well my friend, the new vulcan sucks compared to this one shown here. The pilot never ripped her open properly, I know its an old airframe but I wqill nEVER give them another penny after the sh*t performance I saw. Roll on the old days ;))

  • amazing, doesnt matter about the quality, shame she doesnt fly like that now, think to conserve the airframe her display has been "toned down".

  • "Last season for this aircraft"..... not any more!

This will be one commentator that was never so pleased to have been wrong!

  • Fantastic! thanx for sharing.
