Here I prepare a plaster-aluminum reaction.
Its a kind of Thermite as well.
The mixture shown in this vid is
108 gr aluminum powder and
204 gr of white plaster powder.

U can use 2-1 (by weight) Plaster-Aluminun as well
(e.g. 10oz of plaster - 5oz of Al)

The simpliest and cheapest plaster U can
get in any hardware store.
For example this plaster U need to fill the spaces after
mounting dry-wall panels.

I did NOT heat up the paster powder to get rid of the crystal-water in it

(CaSO4 * 1/2H2O)

USE DRY POWDER of course. Dont buy any ready
mixtures filled up with sand or so.

Forget about any oxidizers and dealers askin'
what U wanna do with it.

The container for the mixture has been the
EMPTY tube of an old German military smoke grenade for exercise purpose.

But U can use any other cans and paper-rolls as well, of course.

At the end of the reaction U can see a "nugget" consisting of Aluminum and Al-oxide from the aluminum tube, which is still red-hot glowing.

  • wow - interesting... I like. But where the hell do you get aluminium powder from? Even if you want to make real thermite, the iron oxide is not difficult, but the powdered aluminium is hardly in your local supermarket.

  • @mikegalsworthy yeah its not like buying buns...

these reactions still work with larger grain sizes, even with scrap from drilling machines.

so U dont have to use fine powder for the entire set. just ignite with fine powder and fade into larger filings. U can find fine powder in online shops. I was lucky to order my aluminum in a small local and family owned hardware store

  • "911 9/11 WTC september 11 World Trade Center terrorist attack" ???

  • @Libertusss

Do U really c a context to these incidents?

U probably COULD c a context here if I blew my house up or sum'n like that.

OK I AM mad but not THAT mad.

  • @desinfector - The quote i wrote came from your own description on this.

It's me who's not getting the relationship with 9/11 !!

  • @Libertusss

I dont see a relationship either, but many ppl out there do.

-in terms of thermite being used as hidden sets in the WTC towers or similar nonsence.

But on the other way it seems to be possible that some "side reactions" took place during the fires in the buildings.

These side reactions could have been burning Aluminum or even Magnesium and Titanium (from the jets) with plaster from drywall panels.

thats why I used these tags

    plaYsta???

    guess not.

    my English isnt that bad.

but laughing at me that way... can U do a similar explanation in German as well?

  • @laughomaniac

oww. this was just a post WW2 smoke bomb container.

not from the nazi-army. from the year 1997 IRRC :)

my home town is neighboured to a military exercise area.

stuff like this is around there behind any rock.

it just looks more dangerous to use these "bombs"

  • Impressive. Tho always a bad idea to move a lit pyro. Always place the unlit charge in its detonation point rather than carry it once lit...unless you really want to end up in hospital or a coffin.

  • It turned into kryptonite!

  • @mikegalsworthy On a different video, a guy made his aluminum powder by making a ball of aluminum foil and grinding it into a pile.

  • @mikegalsworthy sometimes you can find aluminum powder for boat and auto paint mixes. Check out ebay too.

  • @mikegalsworthy you grind aluminum foil

  • you germans are too freaking awesome!
