WHERE: Carnation Street in Covingtons West Abita Nursery subdivision (off Hwy. 36, north of Progress Street)

Covington, LA—Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West (HFHSTW) celebrated a seven-house dedication ceremony complete with refreshments in West Abita Nursery. Families and friends gathered to dedicate the homes Saturday, May 30th as HFHSTW presented seven partner families ceremonial house keys, bible and hammer.

Construction on these seven homes began in May 2008 as part of Habitat for Humanitys 25th Annual Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter Work Project (JRCWP). Hundreds of volunteers from across the United States and the world partnered with HFHSTW to build 10 houses in the West Abita Nursery of Covington as part of a five-day home build. An additional 20 homes in Covington were also sponsored by the JRCWP. HFHSTW staff, partner families and volunteers have completed 25 JRCWP homes and are nearing completion on the remaining five.
