Gosh that Celebrity Cruise ship is a whopper! Even the Grand Canal can't be that grand! This is a superb video - every shot tells a bigger deeper story.

@Paulmanorbier Thank God or thk to geography those monsters don't navigate on the GrandCanal; the end of Gd Canal roughly "flows" N/S into Saint Mark Basin (E/W) which more or less links the cruisers harbour to the open sea:"ideal" axis thrgh the town centre!Let's hope this route will eventually know the same fate as Kai Tak (H Kong airport up to '88),for the sake of Venice and the Venitians(check Kai tak on YT:spectacular!I took off from there once; for 2seconds,thought I was in a lift!)

How nice to see you back and uploading videos of your travels. I think any Venician who sees that great monster liner approaching its delicate shores would feel horrified. How those modern cruisers seem like such a shock to the eye against those villas. Why does 'modern' seem to equate with 'brash' here, even that bridge looks ugly and uninspired. Some wonderful observations here, nevertheless. You opened my eyes a bit this morning, thanks.

@andrewnorris2,I think Venitians are sick with mass tourism+the sight of those cruisers also deeply disturbs even the tourists. As for the Calatrava bridge,it's just another aberration.Though I must admit I might 've liked it in some other place,knowing it cost a fortune,the glass steps are slippery when it rains,the handrail burning when it's hot, the whole thg unnecessary (should have lead to a "new" area which never developed) whatever the weather... I fear for Venice!Thanks for your visit .

@violetparme Hai ragione, Venezia è una cortigiana all'asta del miglior offerente.

Spero solo di non sentire un giorno il rumore di una nave che si incastra tra San Giorgio e punta della dogana, perchè non sarebbe troppo da ridere, navi di quella stazza (e tra capitani di lungo corso come io e te ci capiamo) sbaglando manovra porterebbero via un pezzo di città.

Veramente un bel video, ah...siamo tornati a casa e, tutto bene!!!!!

Je ne pense pas que la Sérénissime gains quelque chose avec les croisières, qui peut arriver et partir, mais pas de transit à travers le bassin de San Marco. Bonne soirée!!

@44ciccionet le crociere passano tanto poco tempo a Vnzia, che indubbiamente fa parte del "deal"di avere la traversata del bacino di S Marco partenza+ arrivo:la ciliegia sulla torta!(non sicura di questa espr. in italiano!). Chi può contestare l'interesse economico delle crociere per Vnzia. Impossibile avere " il burro+il denaro per il burro"!(espr. francese facile da capire):difficile avere il profitto+ evitare i suoi inconvenienti.. Come tu , mi chiedo: guadagna La Serenissima o no?

Bellissimo video!! ....non ho mai capito perchè si consenta alle barche da diporto e soprattutto alle navi da crociera di giungere fino al bacino di S.Marco.....certamente Venezia non ci guadagna nulla.....
