13WHAM-TV reports on a farewell reception for Alan Hurwitz, National Technical Institute for the Deaf president and Rochester Institute of Technology vice president.
Anchor: A farewell party for the departing president of the National Technical Institute for the Deaf. Alan Hurwitz is leaving to become the president of Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. The local deaf community held a reception for Hurwitz on Sunday.
Steven DeBottis: My first thoughts were, 'No, I don't want to see him leave. I want him to stay here.' But when he was chosen as president I realized he was the most deserving person, so we praise him for that. I praise him for that.
Anchor: Hurwitz was NTID's first deaf president.
