I'm trying to burn to DVD but I have issues regarding interlacing. I use TMPGenc instead of Sorenson, but when exporting the file I get some weird lines in the video. THey're bad enough to make me look for alternatives. Would you say Sorenson handles avid files better than TMPGenc?

As a newbie to MC 5 having been forced to upgrade from AVid Liquid ( they have killed the product off, with no Bluray support) this video has proved invaluable to get up to speed as quickly as possible ... many thanks indeed

If I'm going to make a NTSC DVD from a PAL Avid sequence, do I need to do any special conversion either within Avid or in Sorenson? Also, when I export the Quicktime Reference out of Avid and play the video using Quicktime Player, the video is squished. The sequence I exported is 16:9 PAL, but it looks like Quicktime Player is trying to play it as a 4:3.

Hi
Re NTSC from PAL - you will need to convert the sequence within Sorenson (i.e. import the PAL sequence and within Sorenson you can set it up as NTSC DVD).
Re "Squishing" - Make sure that when you export the QT reference file from Avid you actually set it to 16:9 in the export box otherwise QT will automatically see it as 4:3.
Any other probs please just shout!
