@lizasoon And who exactly gave those scientists the minds, creativity or even more simply...each and every single breath they took each morning as they woke up to find those cures. God is Sovereign, nothing is out of God's control. He knows and has control over everything that happens. So these scientists are just men like you and I, who happened to be used my God for such inventions- Glory be to God.

@lizasoon___ isn't that what a purely just God do?.. all the diseases came because of our sins, death came because of our sins, infertility came because of our sins... and all those things should bring us to repentance... open up your eyes, this isn't about us.. its about God He has all the rights in His goodness to destroy us all yet He holds back and gives us hope... run to Jesus

misioyoggi,
My responses were directed at dubvishun, not Piper. Read what he said and my response would make more sense.
"...the only reason I have any perseverance in faith at all, is because God keeps showing up to help me keep putting that 'old man' to death, every day..."
("...not having a righteousness of my own...")
Soli Deo Gloria.
God forgive me...

The reality of man's propensity to sin predated Jesus' perfect obedience. In fact, it started in the garden of Eden. You make it sound like it's possible to eventually please God through your own efforts of ridding yourself of sin. Don't get me wrong; the desire to rid yourself of sin is indicative of a life given over to Christ. But what marks the truly elect of God is the one who receives Jesus' righteousness, not a righteousness of their own. And this comes from faith, not works (Rom 1:16-17)
