My South African DS23 had the strip speedometer and went to 120MPH indicated.

Agreed, I grew up having a 1975 DS 23 Pallas and later a 1969 DS 21 Pallas.

One of them absolutely. Look what the rest of the world was making in 1955, especially the sedans. The DS was also technically a bold step at the time. Rolls Royce later bought the gas suspension from Citroen to use in their cars, as did Mercedes for their late 70s 450SEL 6,9.

The steering wheel on a DS or ID is not meant to have the arm pointing vertically downwards. On left hand drive cars when the direction is straight, the wheel arm should be at around the 7to 8 o'clock position. On right hand drive cars the wheel should be at 4 to 5 o'clock. This is so that the wheel will collapse in a crash and not spear the driver. It also allows a relaxed finger tip control when highway cruising.
