Both in war-torn and civil societies, countless women around the world are hostages to violence and terror. Why is it that women are particularly vulnerable to human rights abuses? What are the factors, both cultural and systemic, that limit their freedom of expression or social choices? How have women resisted oppression and struggled to assert their rights in difficult situations?
