James Bond's newest gal pal is more than just a pretty face.
On Friday, Activision announced that Grammy-winning artist Joss Stone will play the next Bond girl in the newly revealed James Bond 007: Blood Stone. Penned by popular Bond screenwriter Bruce Feirstein (GoldenEye, The World is Not Enough), the game is set to arrive for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and DS this holiday.
In addition to lending her digital likeness and vocal talents to Blood Stone, the chanteuse also co-wrote and performs the game's theme track, "I'll Take it All," with Eurythmics star Dave Stewart.
Current Bond Daniel Craig will star as the intrepid spy, as will his perpetually grumpy superior "M," once again played by Judi Dench.
Though best known for her booming soul voice, Stone has dabbled a bit in acting, most recently as Anne of Cleves in the lascivious Showtime drama, "The Tudors."
Activision has been tight-lipped about the new game, having withheld it entirely from the recent E3 game convention in Los Angeles. Unlike the first-person Bond smash hit GoldenEye (soon to be rebooted on the Wii), Blood Stone will be a third-person action affair emphasizing cover, melee combat, and what looks like loads of high-speed driving sequences. That makes perfect sense, as ace racing game house Bizarre Creations (Project Gotham, Blur) is in charge of development. The game will also feature a variety of multiplayer modes pitting spies against mercenaries.
So will Blood Stone be turned into the next Bond film, too? Activision gave Yahoo! Games an official "no comment" on that one, and with the status of the 23rd Bond film up in the air thanks to MGM's well-publicized financial woes, Blood Stone might be the closest Bond fans will get to a new adventure -- and a new Bond girl -- any time soon.
