Building the Stone Altar

"An altar of earth you shall make for Me, and you shall slaughter beside it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your cattle. Wherever I allow My name to be mentioned, I will come to you and bless you." (Exodus 20:21)

On the 9th of Av, 5769, (2009), the Temple Institute began the construction of the stone altar. When completed, this altar will be ready to be transported to the Temple Mount, where the Divine service will be renewed.

Is this the same place as referenced in 1 Maccabees 3 and 5 (and I thought in Ezra or Judges but I have lost it now) where an altar was also built? Was this site deliberately chosen for this reason or is it a "coincidence"?

Solomon's was a dedication to the True and Living God. Unfortunately, their's is to their tradition.
