@clwgirl510 Medical treatments available in the US are indeed an overall best in the world -- but it is the best that only lots of money can buy. However, this "best" is not available to many millions of Americans and insurance won't pay for many treatments. The Newfoundland premier chose to use his own funds to have major heart surgery in Florida though the same procedure is available to all Canadians in several Canadian cities outside Newfoundland. You'll have to ask him why.

@clwgirl510 A recent Harvard study shows that over 45,000 Americans DIE on average every year because they do not have insurance and cannot afford required care/treatment. They are therefore, not treated!

And don't even use the excuse of "it was closer" like I've heard other Canadians use. He went to Florida! There were tons of "closer" cities. Montreal, Toronto, Boston, New York City, Philadelphia??

@clwgirl510 As all humans can become ill, those human rights you speak of must include equal access to health care. Any excuse in opposition is immoral. France & Japan also have high cancer survival rates, while ours vary widely between states, whites & blacks, rich & poor, and type of cancer. As my father was born in Canada, and we have family there, I know the system well. None of my Canadian relatives would ever want our health care nightmare to supplant their universal system.

Also why do people in America have a higher cancer survival rate than Europe, Australia, or Canada if Socialist Health Care is so great?
