first of all why does she think her baby would be safer from disease at her employers over the more than kind and able mrs P house?not to mention the risks and implications of exchanging a high bred baby burying it who knows where am sure a crime of this nature by a lowly servant would be hanging or life...what would she do if dismissed for some reason kidnap her own baby live on the streets pennyless? this is really a strange twist and rather silly..Mrs P should have slapped her silly

Uugh! I can't stand Victoria/Mrs.Sint-John. Why on earth is she cheating on her adoring husband with this vile, slimy specimen?! Why? I'm not one for name-calling but she's a W....! Together with the mean nanny & Pringle, she's such a deplorable character.

@quo33 There was poverty and typhoid where he was staying, she may have been assuming she would stay in his life as nanny or nursemaid, she had earlier considered letting the Dowager take him if he got a good life and title... and her in his life in some way. She also had the temptation of going to Venice with Miss Talkative and the overwhelming stress of what to do with the dead child. I actually would have done the same thing.

I understand Hannah but it's ridiculous. She could never take him away again, the parents would of course think she's stealing their son and hunt her forever. What kind of live would that be?
