This video was recorded on October 24th during the UH vs SMU Homecoming Parade. The Cougar Guard live mascot keepers were invited back to participate in the parade as escorts for two live cougars. Casey and Nala were the two cats who traveled to Houston from Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge near Eureka Springs, Arkansas to participate in the ceremonies. Scott and Tanya Smith, operators of the refuge, were the two people who drove the cats in from their habitats to Texas. The Spirits of SHASTAs 1-5 were honored for their service to UH with an exhibit just outside the stadium before the game. Special thanks to Gary Gage, a UH Optometry graduate, who provided photos for the display on site near the entrance to the stadium. Also, Rudene Turner who provided scrapbooks and albums from the past. The video was recorded and edited by Kathi Beasley, UH class of '79, who currently works in Houston as a producer at The Production Companies, Inc. in Greenway Plaza.
