If you use canned tomatoes. You're doing it al wrong....

Unless your tomatoes are locally sourced/in-season, you're better off with canned tomatoes. They're at least properly ripened as opposed to being picked green and ripened with ethylene gas to survive the journey.
Canned tomatoes don't look attractive because they are peeled and pasteurized. Otherwise, they're just as good.

I never worried about seeds before. I don't even notice them.

actually that is a pretty cool idea , never thought about using a salad spinner to seperate the seeds ,
as for having fresh tomatoes in the winter , you can find them but they might not really be a best choice for a lot of dishes and some times it is just nice not needing to worry about if a the fruit is ripe

Fresh = the best.
