suprisingly this is his own song its not of a spoof of the talking heads
-
the verses are just like "artists only" the chorus is like "stay up late"....."they'll never miss it" is a reference to "born under punches line "don't you miss it! don't you miss it!"..... "this is not my...." is reference to once in a lifetime.... "i made a big mistake" could reference "seen and not seen"....some of the noises he makes sound like "what a day that was" by david byrne solo, and the final guitar riff is very similar to the "and she was" ending.....hopes this helps :P

Around 1:08 when he goes 'huh' was hilarious, just like Byrne in a few songs.

"This is not my beautiful stapler...this is not my beautiful chair!" Once in a Lifetime reference!
-
@samadriel - the "This is not my...." schtick is also from Once in a Lifetime
-
0:55 Was that supposed to be a Bill Lumbergh lookalike? If so, you totally nailed it.
Sometimes I tell myself, "This is not my beautiful stapler! This is not my beautiful chair!" lol

For those that are interested - the verses are very similar to Talking Heads "Artists Only" (from "77") and the chorus to their "Stay Up Late" (from "Little Creatures").
For not intentionally funny sendups of Talking Heads style, see Liam Lynch's "Fake Talking Heads Song" and Brian Eno's "King's Lead Hat" (an anagram of "Talking Heads").
