  • What a truly great vocal performance which stands the test of time and then some.

Are there any singers out there today performing at this level?

  • Oh Gene. I miss you. You are unique. Somehow singing all your adult life, you maintained your voice and its power. I awoke this morning with this song in my head. Sang it all day inside my heart. I just can't really get that you are gone. How is it possible? I certainly hope you are in heaven. God bless you, Lynne & the boys. I love you!

  • Your singing meant so much to me when I was a teenager. I don't know if I could have made it through the teen years without you.

  • What a doll baby he was when I first saw him when I was just 12! I saw him several times after that and he always exceeded my expectations! Loved him then, love listening to him now! RIP xx

  • Gene Pitney had an amazingly beautiful voice. I loved listening to him growing up,and moreso now on YouTube. he is missed

  • This has a faster beat, but I like Ral Donner's version better

  • @MsMissingyouso I feel the same way you just said it much better than I ever could. Thank you.

  • @syrjudy Don't leave out Brenda Lee,Bobby Vinton-Blue Velvet, and Unchained Melody, can still smell the hair spray and finding someplace dark-was true love forever at 15. The real Wonder Years! Had a GP album and wore it out, think my fav was 24 hours from Tulsa.

  • One of the greatest songs of all time!! Beautifully produced and arranged and of course the incomparable voice of Gene singing lyrics so poignant that you ache just listening to him. May he RIP.

  • @syrjudy Great call.....touches off memories of sock hops at U of D in Motown in the early 60s when i got to see Detroit artists live.

  • This was one of the songs you hoped was the "last dance" at the sock hop . . .
