Some recent statements by Pakistani and Indian officials show that the lack of trust between Pakistan and India continues even after last month's Foreign Secretary level talks. Stephen Cohen, Foreign Policy expert at the Brookings Institution, says that if the civil societies in both countries continue their efforts to improve relations, the situation can get better. Malou Innocent, Foreign Policy analyst at the CATO Institute is of the view that the United States can play an important role in bringing the two countries close.
