Hillage got funky in some music in his style because he was heavily influenced by Parliament and Funkadelic.He told that in an interview. In the history of rock, Hillage is one of the most original guitar crafting his sound in a synthesized search.

I remember the first time I heard this. '76...'77 maybe? My sister and I were browsing in a little record shop. She was looking for Allman Bros or Doobie Bros and I was looking for Thin Lizzy or something. Then the guy behind the counter put the album on. We both looked up at the same time and knew that one of us would be buying this. FM radio was becoming more corporate-bound and rigid in their playlists by this time or we might have missed it. Jo Blocker became a huge influence on my style.
