That is a new record for a single round. Hamilton is finally living up to his all-star talent, after years of disappointment and drug abuse. (July 15)[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] Josh Hamilton may not have won this year's home run derby -- losing to the Twins Justin Morneau (mor-know). But Hamilton (HE) was definetly the star of the show. Setting a new record, Hamilton belted 28 home runs in the first round of this year's home run derby. A mark that tops the old record of 24, set a couple years ago by Bobby Abreu. This is Hamilton's first all-star game ... After years of disappointment and at times -- drug abuse. Back in 19-99, Hamilton's future seemed bright. He was the number one overall pick in the draft -- chosen by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. But In 2001, Hamilton's life took a turn for the worse. He started using drugs and made his first of eight attempts at rehab. Then, from 2002 to 2006, the one-time prep star did not play baseball at all ... In 2007, Josh Hamilton made his major league debut .. With the Cincinnati Reds. He was traded to the Texas Rangers in the off-season and has had a phenomenal first half. He currently leads all of major league baseball with 95 runs batted in. • Wow give Morneau some credit he did win the damn thing

  • hahaha he did light up the NYc skyline...plus it take an amazing player when the mean yankee fans start chanting a texas rangers players last name.. hamilton hamilton hamilton,,,

  • @ItsPunsy002 but my boy did...Josh is great though...

  • @MoFo0311 I have no regrets for the comment, nor will I ever. Doesn't look like Hamilton helped his team win the World Series any more than Morneau did. Besides the comment was aimed at the home run derby. I would rather be a loyal fan to my team and its players, when Morneau is hurt I still won't sell him out. He wasn't the only one hurt this year, and a much more serious injury than a couple of ribs.

  • @njkoland I bet you are kicking yourself for that comment now days

  • Perhaps the most amazing moment of my life happened when josh hamilton stepped up to the plate in the 2008 homerun derby! I was watching at home on tv and at the time had no idea who josh hamilton was and I pointed to the tv and said this guy is gonna put on a show and when I said it a chill ran through my body as if somehow in the moments before he took his first swing I knew what was about to happen! I will remember josh hamilton and that moment the rest of my life!

  • Hamilton could win the triple crown this year and he's focused, that's why he skipped the derby this year. Last year he struggled with striking out on outside pitches, now he takes those to left field all the time. The guy is ridiculous, I get to watch the Rangers every night, fun to watch...

  • yea like it takes luck to hit a hr lol

  • wow the only reason ppl like him is becuz of the hmrn derby wow every1 like hes sooooo good really he isnt he lukky'

  • josh hamilton, ur one of my favorite players, and i still think ur awesome even though ur w/ the rangers now. i just wish u would go back 2 the reds. keep playing well.
