We, the students, faculty, staff and community at UNCG declare this meeting a sham. Students are systematically shut out of the decisions that impact us and our community. We have had enough.
We demand that there be no hikes in tuition and that the money being used to gentrify the Glenwood neighborhood be instead used to close the university's budget gap.
We invite you to join us, Occupy UNCG. We invite you to listen to our stories tonight. We invite you to our meeting tomorrow to join in organizing a movement to defend our right to education.

  • SGA has no real impact on things like tuition increases. When it come down to it, it's the school administration, Board of Trustees, the Board of Governors and the state legislature. Which is why we are doing our research, proposing alternatives and taking our fight all the way to the top. This was just the beginning.

  • Oh yeah super cool underoath I'm sure they are super ignorant and have no idea about what their University is spending money on.. not like they named a specific problem that has been an ongoing issue that you can read about in many newspapers in the triangle (that's the Raleigh-Durham-CH area if you don't know), particularly the independent ones. Go listen to underoath in your cave and leave the people who give a shit alone.

  • Awesome action, you all!!! It's great to hear the students standing together to speak out against tuition hikes. They are charging MORE money for LESS education to be completed in LESS time in a world where the value of a degree is dwindling a little more every day. We are being charged this money because of cuts to school budgets that were made because a certain group of people TANKED THE ECONOMY. Let bankers and corporations pay FOR THEIR OWN BAILS OUTS!!! Education should not be cut.

  • @jimfun Please enlighten us, jimfun. Perhaps you attended the meeting and are privy to information not available to us. From my perspective, these "student leaders" have no real influence on tuition.

  • amazing!
